About Us
Dr. Michaelene Callahan earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Stony Brook University in 1995. A snowboarding accident changed her life when she injured her cervical spine which left her unable to turn her head to the right for four months! Eventually, she sought the attention of a chiropractor as no medicine would alleviate her pain and neck function. After her very first adjustment, her headaches went away and she regained full function and range of motion in her neck.
Dr. Callahan earned her chiropractic degree from Life University in 2000. For the last ten years, in her self-made practice she has dedicated herself to mastering the art of chiropractic. Her love of animals brought her to this extremely effective technique on animals, where she is able to combine her knowledge of chiropractic and her passion for animals. She is an animal lover and owns four dogs, six cats, and a conure parrot! Making great use of her chiropractic knowledge it was a simple decision to treat her animals.
Her beloved Golden Retriever Abby, was diagnosed with Extra spinal Osteosarcoma (a rare cancer that effects less than 1% of dogs in the cervical spine — neck area), she realized that alternative treatments to traditional therapies were extremely limited. It became her mission to assist Abby with the proper health care needs to extend her remaining quality of life.
Grey Kitty, her cat (15-19 years of age) was recently diagnosed with Renal Failure. Temporary blindness, severe loss of appetite, and resulting near death dehydration forced Dr. Callahan to make serious life altering decisions. When the veterinarians wanted to put her down, Dr. Callahan refused and took charge. Grey Kitty is now living happily in full health and receives intravenous fluids daily.
Continually striving to improve, Dr. Callahan has added LED, acupressure, and Myo-fascial release to the VOM practice. By incorporating a “holistic” approach to the animal Dr. Callahan recommends that all creatures with a spine (including their owners) be checked before any problems occur. Collaboration with your veterinarian will maximize your animal’s inborn potential to heal and maintain homeostasis within their bodies throughout adjustments and other natural healing techniques.
Dr. Callahan was certified and taught this technique by William L. Inman BS, BS, DVM, CVCP, the developer of VOM. Before Dr. Inman began using these non-invasive techniques, he was an accomplished veterinary surgeon and still consults in veterinary surgery. His vacillation to VOM from surgery reflects his frustration in ineffective surgical solutions to common veterinary medical problems.
